How Momo Hero works

The Momo Hero methods: POSCO, ABCR, SUP and BFM

Every business plan, money model and pitch deck Momo Hero builds runs on the same four methods. This page explains each one in plain language, then points to the American framework it lines up with, so you can see it is a familiar idea with a tighter name.

The four methods are POSCO for pricing, ABCR for the product line, SUP for break-even, and BFM for the month-by-month forecast. They run in that order, because each one needs the answer from the one before it.

POSCO: scoring your competitors to set a price

Imagine you give every competitor a report card in five subjects. P is for Product, meaning the whole thing the customer gets. O is for Online, meaning the website, the reviews, the search results. S is for Service, meaning how fast and how well they answer. C is for Cost, which here means the strength of the brand and the people behind it. The last O is for Offline, meaning the shop, the office, the physical space. You grade each competitor, add up the grades, and see where your own business lands. Your score tells you which price you can honestly ask for.

The American name for this

In the United States this is competitive positioning analysis and value-based pricing. The report-card grid is a competitor scorecard, the kind that sits inside a Porter five-forces review or any MBA competitive-analysis template. Plotting the scores against price is a price-positioning map or a perceptual map. POSCO packages those steps into one worksheet with a number at the end.

Why it matters

Most founders pick a price by feel, then defend it. POSCO gives you a price you can show a competitor's website next to, and explain in one sentence.

ABCR: a staircase of offers from free to recurring

Think of a menu. First a free taste, so people try you at no risk. Then a cheap sample, small enough to buy on impulse, good enough to prove the quality. Then the main dish, which is your core product and where most of the attention goes. Then a chef's table version for the people who want the best and will pay for it. And finally a subscription, so the ones who love it keep coming back without being asked. ABCR stands for those roles: a free entry, a cheap proof, the core, the premium, and the recurring offer.

The American name for this

This is the value ladder, made popular in the US by Russell Brunson, and it is the same shape as product-line laddering, the freemium-to-premium model, and the tripwire-plus-core-plus-continuity funnel that US information-product and software businesses run. ABCR fixes the five roles so the line is complete and nothing is missing.

Why it matters

One product is fragile. A ladder catches people at every budget, turns a browser into a small buyer, and turns a small buyer into a subscriber.

SUP: the break-even math on one page

This one is just counting. How much money has to come in each month so the money going out is covered. And how much you keep from a single sale after the cost of making it and the tax on the profit. Once you know both numbers, you know how many sales a month the business needs to stop losing money. SUP puts that on a single page.

The American name for this

This is break-even analysis and contribution-margin analysis. The U.S. Small Business Administration teaches the same calculation in its business-plan guidance, and it is the first thing an operations class covers. The startup world calls the same idea unit economics, and the point where a founder's living costs are covered is called ramen profitability.

Why it matters

SUP tells you the smallest version of the business that still works. If that version is out of reach, the plan needs to change before anything else does.

BFM: a 25-month forecast of your bank account

BFM is a weather forecast for the money. Month by month, for just over two years, it shows revenue climbing, costs following, and the exact month the business stops losing money and starts winning. It uses cautious numbers on purpose. Search traffic, ad clicks and sign-up rates are each held under a hard ceiling, so the forecast is one you can plan on rather than one you hope for.

The American name for this

This is a three-statement financial model, also called a pro forma projection or a driver-based operating model. It is the financial model a US venture investor asks for before a meeting, and the projection an SBA lender requires with a loan application. BFM is that model, built to a fixed 25-month shape with the growth assumptions written down and capped.

Why it matters

BFM turns a story into a schedule. It gives you the two dates that matter, the month you cover your costs and the month you hit your income goal, and it shows the work that gets you there.

Where these methods came from

POSCO, ABCR, SUP and BFM were developed by Volodymyr Pimenov, a Ukrainian specialist in small and medium business development and the founder of City Profit. He built them over years of client work, because the standard frameworks either did not fit the messy, specific situations founders actually bring to the table, or were written for a different decade and had aged out. He kept the parts that held up under real numbers, dropped the parts that did not, and named the result so it could be taught and reused instead of reinvented for every project.

Momo Hero is the tool that applies these methods to the United States market: US competitors, US dollars, US taxes, and the SBA and investor formats American lenders and funds expect. The method is the same. The context is local.

What these methods do not do

They structure the thinking and the math. They do not guarantee that a bank says yes, that an investor writes a cheque, or that a business succeeds. Every figure in a Momo Hero output is a projection, clearly labelled as one, for a business that has not traded yet. Treat the numbers as a careful starting point, and bring your own judgement to them.
